Lin Dan Wins Badminton World Championships 2011 Final

Olympic champion Lin Dan had a thrilling preparation for the defence of his title at next year's Games here when he saved two match points to beat top-seeded Lee Chong Wei in a sensational world championship final on Sunday. Lin Dan of China has become the world champion of badminton by beating the world number one men’s singles player and the top seed Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei.


Amid emotional scenes, the winner raced to the crowd, threw his shirt into the seating (as you can see in the picture) and hugged his delighted coaches. "I just didn't think too much about the result on the match points," said Lin afterwards. "I tried to focus on what I was doing.

"And I didn't think about the title before the tournament, but after a match like this I feel really excited." The battle was continue till 81-minutes—and the as a result “Lin Dan Became the World Champion”.

So Lee hope of becoming the first Malaysian to win gold in World Championships dashed. Lin Dan took the upperhand in the second set and finished off Chong Wei in 21-14.
