Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader Sarah Jones pleads not guilty to sex with high school student

A former Bengals cheerleader accused of sex abuse, and her mother, a middle school principal who allegedly covered up the crime, entered pleas of not guilty during their arraignment Monday in Kenton County, Ky.

Sarah Jones, the captain of the Ben-Gals cheerleading squad, was indicted last week on claims that she had sex with a 16-year-old high school football player four or five times and exchanged numerous text messages with the student, as first reported by the Cincinnati Enquirer. The indictment against her states that she had a sexual relationship with a senior at the school while she was a teacher there.

The trial date for both Sarah and Cheryl Jones was set for June 27. Sarah Jones grabbed headlines in 2009 when she became the subject of what she claimed was a lurid smear campaign when photos of her appeared on TheDirty.com with comments that branded her a 'slut' who 'had two STDs'.

According to Jones’s December 23, 2009 complaint, the article, published on December 7, 2009, quoted a commenter who alleged that Jones had slept with all the members of the Bengals team and had STDs. The complaint for defamation, libel, and invasion of privacy says that Jones’ school had seen the post and that her students had commented on it.

Jones is not the first cheerleader to get into trouble. In 2006, a former Carolina Panthers cheerleader got into a bar brawl after she was accused of having sex with another cheerleader in the bathroom. She pleaded no contest and avoided jail time.
