Jerry Brown then whisked off to Variety’s Venture Capital and New Media Summit. "Welcome to California," Brown told them, and his wife gave Catherine a red, white & blue bouquet of flowers.

This is the first official visit of the couple which consists on nine day---"In 1939, my great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, said of her first tour of Canada with her husband, King George VI: 'Canada made us.' Catherine and I now know very well what she meant," William said in a parting speech late Thursday.

Though Prince William has been to America before, it is Kate's first trip to the U.S. William's late mother, Princess Diana, who would have turned 50 this month, charmed Americans when she visited in the 1980s. (PHOTO CREDIT DAILY MAUIL)
