Maddie Bisanz is the future Mrs. Joe Mauer ! The Twins catcher proposed to his "best friend" over the weekend, and, of course, she said "yes!" A big congrats to Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer who proposed to girlfriend Maddie Bisanz over the weekend in Florida.
The news was first broken by our Twitter pal Lindsay Guentzel on Sunday before quickly filtering through the rest of Minnesota media, where Mauer is more or less considered Prince William. Paul. Mauer told the Pioneer Press the two have been friends for about seven years and dating for the last 1.5 years. “I was hoping for a yes, and she said yes. I’m getting to marry my best friend. We couldn’t be happier, and we’re both really excited.”
28 year-old Bisanz graduated in 2001 from Cretin-Derham Hall High School so this means they known each other for about 7or 8 years aprox, enough for them to referred to each other as best friends. Maddie is currently a nurse at St. Paul, Minnesota. When asked if wedding plans would hamper his game, he said: "No. (Maddie's) the one who got me through last year. If anything, she's going to make me better. We were really close (friends) in '09, too."
The 28-year-old catcher credits Maddie for helping him deal with his disappointing 2011 campaign, which saw him play only 82 games while dealing with a litany of medical issues.
