Sofia Coppola, the writer-director, looked every inch the stunning bride as she left her Italian wedding ceremony with her husband Phoenix rocker Thomas Mars today. Sofia Coppola and Thomas Mars were married in Bernalda, Italy.
Sofia Coppola became the third woman (and the first American woman) to be nominated for an Academy Award for Directing, for Lost in Translation in 2003. According to the sources, this was not big ceremony like ahigh-profile celebrities.
There were about eighty guests who attended the ceremony. 40-years old bride Sofia Coppola wore a shear lavender tulle dress, custom-designed by Azzedine Alaïa for the civil nuptials.
Sofia was escorted down the aisle by her father, Francis Ford Coppola. Mayor Leonardo Chiruzzi who performed the ceremony, told The Associated Press afterwards, ”Everything went well. It was simple, calm, in the garden.”
